Rail Ministry approves South Haryana Rail Corridor for Gujarat Port connectivity
The railway ministry has granted approval for the South Haryana Economic Rail Corridor, a 129km semi-high speed rail project that will connect Haryana with four ports in Gujarat via Rajasthan. The ministry has allocated Rs 3.1 crore for the survey, which will be conducted before construction commences. The corridor, estimated to cost Rs 1,225 crore, will stretch from Farrukhnagar in Gurgaon to Loharu in Bhiwani, passing through Jhajjar and Charkhi Dadri. It will provide direct connectivity between Haryana and the ports of Kandla, Mundra, Navlakhi, and Jakhau, while indirectly linking Delhi with these ports. The Haryana Rail Infrastructure Development Corporation (HRIDC), a joint venture between the Indian Railways and the state government, will oversee the project's execution. The corridor will also be integrated with the under-construction Orbital Rail Corridor, enhancing connectivity within Haryana and reducing travel time for industrial hubs.
