DMRC submits DPR for Greater Noida-New Delhi metro project

The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC)
The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has submitted a detailed project report (DPR) to the Uttar Pradesh government and the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) for the construction of the Greater Noida Knowledge Park-2 to New Delhi metro section. The DPR proposes the inclusion of over seven stations along this route.

The comprehensive report, which includes the Jewar Airport and Knowledge Park-2 section, is currently awaiting approval from the state government. Furthermore, YEIDA is tasked with establishing a high-speed metro system that will connect the upcoming Noida International Airport in Jewar to the Indira Gandhi International Airport in New Delhi. This initiative aims to facilitate seamless and efficient travel between the two airports, as highlighted by YEIDA CEO Arun Singh. The government will make the final decisions regarding the number of stations and the funding pattern.

The Greater Noida-New Delhi metro corridor, spanning 72 kilometers, is expected to be constructed in two parts: 35.64 kilometers from Jewar to Knowledge Park-2 in Greater Noida, and 36.36 kilometers from Knowledge Park-2 to New Delhi. Commuters will have the convenience of traveling to the New Delhi International Airport via the Airport Express Line. The first phase of the Jewar airport is anticipated to commence operations by September 2024.
