Union Govt Signs MoU for Parbati-Kalisindh-Chambal-ERCP Link Project
The Union government, along with the state governments of Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan, signed a tripartite MoU for the revised Parbati-Kalisindh-Chambal-ERCP Link Project at the Ministry of Jal Shakti in New Delhi. After nearly two decades, the project is set to commence, benefiting 13 districts in the Chambal and Malwa regions of Madhya Pradesh. Water-deficient districts like Morena, Gwalior, and others will witness increased water availability, while industrialization is expected to accelerate in districts such as Indore and Ujjain. With an investment of Rs 75,000 crore, the project aims to irrigate about 5.60 lakh hectares and raise water levels through dam and pond storage. The integration of the project with the Eastern Rajasthan Canal Project elevates its status to that of national importance, ensuring significant regional development.
