Telangana govt sanctions Rs 276-cr for Mahabubnagar Municipality's drainage system
The Telangana government has approved Rs 276 crore for the construction of an underground drainage system in the Mahabubnagar municipality zone. Excise Minister V Srinivas announced that tenders would be floated soon for the construction of three sewerage treatment plants (STPs) at Pedda Cheruvu, along with the development of trunks mains. The minister expressed optimism that Mahbubnagar Municipality would be transformed into a beautiful city, inspired by the development of Hyderabad.
Significant progress has already been made in the construction of the Pedda Cheruvu Tank Bund. The state government aims to complete all the development works related to the Tank Bund, Necklace Road, Island, and other projects within one year. To ensure timely completion, the minister instructed irrigation, municipal, and public health engineers to promptly implement alternative measures that prevent rainwater from entering the Pedda Cheruvu area.
Emphasizing the tourism potential, the minister stated that the Tank Bund would be transformed into a picturesque destination in the district. The government is committed to releasing only treated and filtered pure water into the Tank Bund, ensuring the lake remains free from pollution.
