NITI Aayog & Netherlands Embassy Release Report on LNG Transport Fuel
The joint launch of the report was graced by dignitaries including Shri. Suman Bery, Vice Chairperson of NITI Aayog, and H.E. Frederik Wisselink, Energy Envoy of the Netherlands. Shri Praveen Mal Khanooja from the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, H.E. Mrs. Marisa Gerards, Ambassador of the Netherlands, Ms. Mansi Tripathy from SHELL Group, and Shri Kamal Kishore Chatiwal from Indraprastha Gas Limited were also present.
Shri Suman Bery highlighted the report's focus on leveraging LNG as a fuel source in commercial vehicles and its insights into coordination challenges faced by stakeholders.
Frederik Wisselink emphasized the Netherlands' expertise in clean energy and its commitment to collaborating with India in the energy sector, particularly in green hydrogen initiatives.
Shri Praveen Mal Khanooja underscored the report's strategies to achieve 15% gas share in primary energy supply and the goal of Net Zero by 2070, aligning with the ministry's multipronged approach towards LNG adoption.
H.E. Marisa Gerards lauded the partnership's contribution to sustainable development and highlighted the pivotal role of the private sector in driving innovation towards a greener future.
The report delves into challenges and barriers for LNG adoption in India and proposes actionable solutions, emphasizing the need for a transparent implementation framework driven by near-term goals of demand creation and market seeding.
