NBCC wins ₹300-cr urban infra project in Puducherry
Puducherry Smart City Development (PSCDL), a Puducherry government undertaking, will launch a series of development projects worth ₹300 crore, the contract for which has been awarded to NBCC. The proposals include constructing a rail over bridge on the Cuddalore Road by the Southern Railway, improving the busy Marapalam Road junction under the tourism and heritage sector, and launching an affordable housing project at Attupatti under the housing sector. The state government has also proposed to develop and improve the Goubert Market, spread on 2.9 acres of land, with an additional commercial space of 50,000 sq ft, including a multi-level car parking, under the economy and trade sector, establishing a smart integrated bus terminus on 4.5 acres with a 25,000 sq.ft commercial space, and an intra-city bus terminus on the East Coast Road under the transport sector. The government has also proposed to improve the historic botanical gardens, refurbish the ancient Swadeshi Mill, and promote eco-tourism activities within the urban forest, rehabilitate and beautify a 3km-stretch of the Grand Canal with pedestrian pathways, cycle tracks, street furniture, and food and beverages outlets.
