The Gujarat government has decided to set up a special purpose vehicle (SPV) to oversee the planning and execution of various infrastructure projects being planned as part of Ahmedabad's bid to host the 2036 Olympic Games.

The SPV will be responsible for developing the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Sports Enclave, which is being built around the Narendra Modi Stadium and the Naranpura Sports Complex. The enclave will have facilities for various Olympic sports, and is expected to cost about Rs 4,600 crore.

The SPV will also be responsible for setting up 3,000 apartments for athletes, support staff, sports officials, and others.

The Gujarat government has informed that the Union government is also involved in the planning and execution of the project.

The 2036 Olympic Games are still a long way off, but Ahmedabad is already making preparations to host the event. The development of the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Sports Enclave is a major step in this direction.
