Cabinet greenlights Rs 24,104-cr PM-JANMAN scheme for tribal welfare
The Union Cabinet has approved Rs 24,104 crore for the Pradhan Mantri Janjati Adivasi Nyaya Maha Abhiyan (PM-JANMAN). The comprehensive scheme covers infrastructure, housing, water, healthcare, and allied welfare for tribal communities. The initiative includes 4.9 lakh pucca houses, 500 hostels, 2,500 Anganwadi centers, mobile towers in 3,000 villages, and 8,000 km of road connectivity. Nine ministries will collaborate, with the Centre contributing Rs 15,336 crore and states Rs 8,768 crore. The Development Action Plan for Scheduled Tribes allocates Rs 15,000 crore for the mission over three years.
