Ambuja Cements Spearheads Waste Management Initiative in Vadnagar
Ambuja Cements, part of the Adani Group, achieves a milestone in community development by implementing a solid and liquid waste management initiative in Vadnagar village, Gujarat, through the Lighthouse Initiative (LHI). The project, in collaboration with the Ministry of Drinking Water and Sanitation, is set to expand across 75 Gram Panchayats in 15 states. Vadnagar leads as the first village to implement the LHI project effectively. With Ambuja Cements' support, Vadnagar Gram Panchayat excels in plastic waste management under Phase II of the Swachh Bharat Mission Grameen (SBM-G). Ambuja Cements ensures efficient waste management by aiding house-to-house waste collection and segregation, establishing a rag-picker group, and providing necessary infrastructure. 2500 kg of plastic waste has been safely disposed of with Ambuja Cements' assistance. The community receives education on Solid and Liquid Waste Management (SLWM) and Plastic Waste Management (PWM), leading to improved waste segregation practices. Ambuja Cements also supports infrastructure development and corporate CSR involvement in Vadnagar, focusing on behavior change communication and community awareness activities. Ambuja Cements remains dedicated to effective waste management and community welfare, leading sustainable development initiatives.
