XCMG Displays 500-ton Crawler, 750 & 900-ton All-Terrain Cranes along with a Comprehensive Equipment Line-Up

Positioning itself as a total equipment solutions provider for the Indian market, Chinese construction and mining equipment major XCMG India showcased its XLC 500-ton crawler crane, along with the XCA 750-ton and XCA 900-ton heavy-lift all-terrain cranes, designed to meet the growing demand from India’s wind power sector. Also on display were rough-terrain cranes ranging from 40 to 130 tons; excavators in the 23–38-ton range and 50–87 tons for mining applications; 3-ton and 5.5-ton wheel loaders; 2-, 3-, 6- and 7-ton electric wheel loaders; asphalt pavers; compactors; and mining dump trucks.

P.K. Krishnakumar, CEO, said, “We are globally the fourth-largest construction and mining equipment manufacturer. In India, we have built a strong brand presence since 2018 by making inroads into major equipment segments such as crawler excavators, where we now command a 10 percent market share. We have also gained significant traction in the wheel loader segment in the key 3- and 5.5-ton categories—across both corporate and rental markets—driven by superior product quality and strong service support.”

He explained that XCMG has successfully established its heavy-lift crawler and all-terrain cranes in the Indian market despite intense competition from European and US manufacturers known for advanced technologies and high safety standards. This success, he noted, is largely driven by the company’s high production capacity for truck-mounted and crawler cranes at its parent facility in China, enabling significantly shorter delivery timelines for customers in India as well as global markets—unlike the extended lead times typically associated with European, Japanese, and US manufacturers.

“This shorter delivery cycle enabled us to supply nearly 110 crawler cranes in the 60–150-ton range for the Mumbai–Ahmedabad High-Speed Rail Project. We have also successfully expanded the adoption of our 350-, 500-, and 750-ton all-terrain cranes across India’s corporate and crane rental segments,” he added.

Commenting on market dynamics, Krishnakumar observed that the depreciation of the Indian rupee against the US dollar has been a key challenge on the input cost, however infrastructure and Wind sector are driving demand for XCMG cranes. “While hiring rates for lighter crawler and mobile cranes have remained subdued, rates for higher-tonnage mobile and crawler cranes have seen an upward trend,” he noted.
