What is your view of the progress being made by India’s CE market amid infrastructure growth, global integration, evolving regulatory frameworks?

India's construction equipment industry is currently valued at approximately USD 10 billion, according to the Indian Construction Equipment Manufacturers' Association (ICEMA). The sector has demonstrated robust historical performance with a compound annual growth rate of around 12%. Industry projections indicate the market will reach USD 25 billion by 2030, as reported by the Press Information Bureau (PIB) and ICEMA. Key growth drivers include:

Infrastructure Development Programs: Continued government investment in transportation infrastructure through initiatives like Bharatmala, National Highway Expansion, and Rural Road Development programs ensures sustained demand for construction equipment. The National Infrastructure Pipeline provides a structured framework for multi-year infrastructure investments across various sectors.

Industrial and Manufacturing Growth: India's steel production capacity is expected to double from 150 to 300 million tonnes by 2030, driven by demand from infrastructure, automotive, electrification, and manufacturing sectors. Production of allied metals including zinc and copper will similarly show significant growth, creating additional equipment demand.

Energy and Mining Sector: India's transformation toward Viksit Bharat by 2047 requires substantial energy infrastructure development. Per capita power consumption is projected to increase from approximately 1,500 kWh to 4,000 kWh. This energy demand will necessitate coal production rising from the current 1 billion tonnes to 1.5 billion tonnes by 2030. Even accounting for renewable energy contributing 50% of total power generation, the mining sector will require an estimated USD 1.3 billion in equipment investment.

Evolving Regulatory Framework: The regulatory environment is becoming increasingly sophisticated, with emphasis on emission standards, safety compliance, and sustainability requirements. Equipment manufacturers must align with BS-VI equivalent emission norms and prepare for stricter environmental regulations. Digital documentation, operator certification requirements, and equipment tracking systems are becoming standard regulatory expectations.

The Indian construction equipment market presents substantial growth opportunities, but success will require manufacturers to simultaneously manage technology advancement, regulatory compliance, service excellence, and financial innovation while maintaining competitive pricing in a dynamic and price-sensitive market.

How is your company expanding its global footprint, strengthening exports, and integrating international technologies to stay competitive in India and abroad?

Gainwell has followed a strong growth-oriented strategy by being guided by the evolving needs of our customers and the segments that we serve. With the help of our partners, we are constantly evaluating new products that address customer needs for higher productivity at optimal cost. We also keep adding products that complement our existing offerings. For example, the Lintec and Linhoff range of asphalt and concrete plants are complementary to Caterpillar excavators and motor graders. Trimble machine guidance systems support our customers in construction to do their work better and faster. Similarly, our association with Hermann Paus for their range of underground utility equipment is complementary to our Caterpillar underground mining trucks.

Another important lever of growth for us is the range of services we offer to our customers. For customers who prefer to maintain their own equipment, we provide on-demand diagnostic assistance and machine inspections for their fleet. For other customers, we provide technicians on-site, and parts to support critical projects. We also undertake longer-term maintenance and repair contracts on a cost-per-hour basis. We have set up a network of workshops where we can rebuild equipment and extend its life at economical prices or undertake a certified rebuild that gives a fresh lease of life to the equipment.

Our customer-facing apps like Cat Central and IFMS ensure that our customers are always connected to us and we can respond fast and minimize downtime of their equipment.

TIL Limited, our group entity, maintains an exclusive domestic manufacturing capability for ReachStackers. India's logistics transformation, catalyzed by transportation infrastructure development and port expansion initiatives, is generating significant demand for specialized equipment like reach stackers.

Our comprehensive crane portfolio is evolving to incorporate next-generation models, including ultra-high-capacity units starting 85 tons and eventually going upto 300+ tons lifting capability. Our global partners, Hyster and Manitowoc, are actively pursuing opportunities to introduce advanced products into the Indian market while exploring procurement possibilities from TIL's manufacturing base. Also, with India's defense export sector gaining momentum, TIL is positioned to contribute meaningfully to this strategic initiative.

Our collective organizational growth is aligned with India's accelerating economic expansion. Our goals include winning more market share across different industries, supporting our 12,000+ Indian customers with modern services, and maintaining the digital service systems that Caterpillar and other manufacturers have repeatedly praised.

Globally, we want to expand beyond the nine countries where we currently operate. Our products in mining, material handling, railways, and defense meet international standards and offer strong value to customers worldwide. We also plan to bring our after-sales service expertise to global markets.

What are the company’s initiatives in energy efficiency, recycling, waste utilisation?

Gainwell
ESG principles are integrated across all operational dimensions of Gainwell's business model. A notable milestone in our sustainability initiatives was the establishment of our Northern Regional Headquarters in Greater Noida as a certified green building. The facility received LEED certification from the US Green Building Council, achieving one of the highest sustainability ratings globally.

Our equipment rebuild program represents a significant contribution to circular economy principles. Through our advanced workshop facilities, we extend machine lifecycles by 5-6 years, reducing the need for new equipment production and associated carbon emissions. We operate three major rebuild centers in India and two international facilities. Our rebuild capacity targets approximately 500 machines annually in India and 100 large mining machines through our overseas operations beginning in 2026.

Our current equipment fleet is compatible with 20% biodiesel blends. In collaboration with Caterpillar, Hyster, and Manitowoc, we are developing electrified product lines to align with India's evolving electric infrastructure. Our portfolio already includes bio-fuel generators and natural gas-powered engines, with plans to deploy microgrid solutions in remote locations.

Our group company, Tulip Compression, manufactures a range of natural gas compressors, including products for LNG (liquefied natural gas) and natural gas. We have supplied India’s first hydrogen compressor through a technical collaboration with our Italian partner. This marked the beginning of our journey into energy transition manufacturing.

Additional environmental initiatives include transitioning to low-carbon steel in manufacturing, implementing IoT-enabled predictive maintenance systems, and deploying approximately 20 MW of solar generation capacity across our manufacturing and mining operations within the next 4-5 years.

Gainwell Group operates according to four strategic pillars: Purpose, People, Planet, and Profit—prioritized in that order.

What initiatives has your company taken to promote inclusivity, diversity, and skill development within its workforce?

Gainwell is fostering diversity and inclusion by creating opportunities for women to enter and excel in the technical workforce. The Roof Bolter division under Gainwell Engineering is run by an all-women crew in the morning shift.

The transformation at TIL Limited since joining the Gainwell family has been remarkable, from a small group of female employees to nearly sixty women colleagues in just one year, each bringing unique perspectives and talents. A significant milestone was welcoming our first female fitters, welders and machinists to the shop floor at Kamarhati and Kharagpur plants. This historic moment represents a fundamental shift in what's possible in our industry.

In the infrastructure sector, historically dominated by men, our women colleagues have stepped up in remarkable ways. They have broken barriers, challenged stereotypes, and demonstrated exceptional leadership. We have witnessed their determination as they navigate construction sites, engineer innovative solutions, and lead teams.

We engage young graduate trainees directly from campuses, providing hands-on manufacturing training. This creates a steady pipeline of pre-trained female candidates ready to excel in technical roles. Our structured program includes classroom sessions, machine familiarization, on-the-job training, and continuous skill assessments. Every participant gains both technical expertise and deep operational knowledge—from machine handling to quality control, safety protocols to production efficiency.

Through our CSR initiative, we're training underprivileged youth as operators and technicians of heavy equipment machinery, with special emphasis on female participation. This creates pathways for women who might otherwise never have access to such opportunities.

Our goal is to improve the diversity quotient to 12% across the organization, providing female colleagues with opportunities and support through a variety of skilling programs and counselling. To truly enable more women to enter in the workforce, it is imperative we create a supportive eco-system to overcome some of the entry barriers and challenges faced by women to have access to adequate opportunities and ensure retention.
