Govt Launches ₹1.20 Lakh-cr Expressway Projects in North India

Union Transport Minister has initiated five greenfield expressways and economic corridors connecting Punjab to Delhi, Chandigarh, Rajasthan, Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, and Haryana. The ₹1.20 lakh crore investment aims to enhance connectivity in the region. Construction is underway for these projects, with foundation stones laid for various initiatives during the minister's visit, including the four-laning of Hoshiarpur-Phagwara road and Ferozepur bypass. Notably, the 670 km greenfield expressway Delhi-Amritsar-Katra project is highlighted, promising reduced travel times from Delhi to Amritsar in four hours and Katra in six hours upon completion. Additionally, the minister inaugurated and laid foundation stones for 29 national highway projects worth ₹4,000 crore in Punjab, addressing key infrastructure developments in the state.
