Gadkari Advocates Permanent Cadre for NHAI

the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI)
Union Minister Nitin Gadkari advocated for establishing a permanent cadre for the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), emphasizing the importance of staff training at IITs. He urged officials to rectify mistakes promptly and avoid delaying decisions. Gadkari highlighted the need for NHAI employees to display a sense of ownership, proposing the development of an independent cadre for the organization.

Expressing concern over the increasing number of accident black spots on national highways, Gadkari revealed that over 9,000 such spots have been identified. The ministry aims to rectify all black spots nationwide by March 2025. Accident black spots are defined as stretches of about 500 meters on highways where at least five accidents occurred within three years, resulting in 10 fatalities.
