MoRTH launches ₹3,580-cr NH in Delhi-NCR

Union transport minister laid the foundation stone for a six-lane National Highway at Kalindi Kunj-Meethapur Road in Delhi where the NH starts at Ring Road- DND Flyway junction and will pass through Kalindi and Faridabad-Ballabhgarh bypasses and end at the interchange of Delhi-Mumbai Expressway at Kundli-Manesar–Palwal (KMP) Expressway. The 3,580 crore mega road project will connect Ring Road-DND Junction with Delhi-Mumbai Expressway with 3+3 lane service roads on either side for about 29 km on the total length of the 59-km long highway stretch. Of the total length, about 7.350 km will be elevated with two level crossings at four locations of Metro line. In totality, it will have 18 new underpasses, nine interchanges with improved junctions, decongesting roads in Delhi, especially at Ashram-Badarpur-Faridabad-Ballabhgarh zones, besides reducing vehicular pollution in the national capital. Other projects being implemented to decongest Delhi-NCR region include connecting Ring Road-DND Junction with Delhi-Mumbai Expressway. Nine other projects are also being implemented; these include a 3-km signal-free corridor from Dhaula Kuan to Airport at a cost of ₹280 crore, a 22-km long 6-lane elevated corridor on Gurugram-Sohna Road costing ₹2000 crore; and 8-lane Delhi-Panipat highway from Mukarba Chowk to Panipat on NH-1 entailing an investment of ₹2300 crore; a 29-km long 8-lane access-controlled Dwarka Expressway costing about ₹9,500 crore; and package II, III and IV of Delhi-Meerut Expressway at a cost of ₹5,900 crore.
