NCRTC building five stations under TOD Policy in NCR

The National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC) has taken a significant step towards promoting integrated urban planning with the initiation of a Transit-Oriented Development (TOD) policy. The policy will focus on the development of dense, pedestrian-friendly, and vibrant communities around transit nodes at three stations in Delhi - Anand Vihar, Sarai Kale Khan, and Jangpura, as well as in Ghaziabad and Meerut in Uttar Pradesh.

The RAPIDX project, covering a total of 25 stations, including four in Delhi, aims to improve transportation in the region. By adopting TOD, the NCRTC seeks to combat urban sprawl, congestion, and pollution, while simultaneously enhancing accessibility, affordability, and the overall quality of life in urban areas.

The TOD plan, prepared in coordination with relevant agencies, will be submitted for implementation shortly. As RAPIDX is a multi-state project, NCRTC will collaborate with four states to execute TOD policies effectively along the corridors. The move aligns with the Union Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs' recognition of TOD's significance in the development plans of Indian cities.
