The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI) and the Global Cement and Concrete Association (GCCA) India has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to facilitate and accelerate sustainable development of the cement and concrete sectors, including their value chain partners across India. TERI will provide expertise and knowledge to GCCA India to achieve sustainability in the Indian cement and concrete sector, and GCCA India will support TERI's projects on technology innovation, energy efficiency and resource efficiency implementation.

According to Mahendra Singhi, Chair, GCCA India, since the cement & concrete demand will only increase in future due to population growth and urbanisation, reducing CO2 emissions is critically important. He adds, "Working with stakeholders across sectors and with civil society will be essential to achieving our sustainability goals. Our MoU with TERI will bring world-class expertise, resources and research that will be invaluable to our industry's drive to carbon neutrality."
