Tata Power-DDL Steps Up Electrical Safety Measures for Kanwar Yatra in Delhi
The annual Kanwar Yatra, scheduled from July 30 to August 11, is expected to witness heavy pilgrim movement across roads and residential areas. The monsoon season further increases the risk of accidental contact with electrical infrastructure.
Ahead of the pilgrimage, Tata Power-DDL has conducted a comprehensive safety survey and carried out leakage testing of electrical poles, transformers and substations along the routes. The company is also ensuring that all streetlights maintained by it are functioning properly to provide safe and uninterrupted movement for pilgrims.
In order to uphold electrical safety in camps, instructions have been disseminated to ensure that all Kanwar Camps are metered; proper rated MCBs and ELCBs are in use, and high-quality insulated wires of the appropriate rating (based on the connected load) are installed without any open joints. Further, it is important to barricade or fence all hazardous installations or open panels if their covers are damaged or cannot be locked. With the monsoon clouds already hovering over Delhi, extra attention is being paid to low-lying waterlogged areas.
