SC directs Delhi govt to release Rs 415-cr for RRTS corridor

The Supreme Court has directed the Delhi government to allocate Rs 415 crore for the Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) project within a two-month timeframe. The decision was made by a bench of Justices S K Kaul and Sudhanshu Dhulia after the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government expressed its inability to contribute funds for the common project.

The court's order came in light of the AAP government's expenditure of Rs 1,100 crore on advertisements over the past three years, which raised concerns about the allocation of resources. Taking this into consideration, the apex court has urged the Delhi government to prioritize the crucial RRTS project, which is essential for enhancing regional connectivity and transportation in the capital region.
