Railway allocates Rs 153.84-cr for Tripura-Bangladesh line

Sabyasachi De, the Chief Public Relations Officer of the Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR), highlighted the positive implications of the rail project. He emphasized that the new rail connectivity between India and Bangladesh would strengthen bilateral relations, foster growth of small-scale industries in border areas, boost tourism in the northeastern region, and facilitate faster import and export of commodities. Moreover, local producers would benefit from expedited access to international markets for their products.
The Agartala-Akhaura international rail line project is of utmost importance, as it will establish a 15.064 km long railway line, with 5.05 km in India and 10.014 km in Bangladesh. The line will connect Bangladesh's Akhaura to an international immigration station at Nischintapur, located on the outskirts of Agartala. The station will facilitate dual gauge operations for passenger and goods interchange between the two countries.
