Kanpur Metro's Tatya TBM breaks ground with 'Dragging' method

Having constructed a 750-meter tunnel on the downline from Chunniganj to Naveen Market, the TBM's next challenge was to reach the other end of the 215-meter-long underground station to proceed with tunnel construction towards Bada Chauraha. Instead of the usual method of retrieving the TBM out of a retrieval shaft and re-launching it from a launching shaft, the engineers of Uttar Pradesh Metro opted for the 'Dragging' method, saving significant time and effort.
With this innovative approach, the Kanpur Metro Project makes progress in its Corridor-1 (IIT-Kanpur to Naubasta), ensuring efficient and swift construction of the underground tunnel section.
