Indore Drops Proposed Elevated Road and Cable Car Projects After Feasibility Review

The year-long survey concluded that the 30-metre-wide road between Malwa Mill and Patnipura is insufficient to accommodate an elevated structure without significantly reducing the width of the surface road. The study also found that there was inadequate space to construct the mandatory entry and exit ramps at key intersections.
Traffic analysis further revealed that the corridor primarily serves local commuters accessing adjoining areas such as MIG, Pardeshipura, MR-9, Bhamori and Mechanic Nagar, with limited long-distance through traffic. According to engineers, the elevated road would not effectively ease congestion at major intersections, including Anoop Talkies Square.
The authority has also abandoned its proposed cable car project, which had been surveyed across seven city routes, including a corridor linking the railway station and Vijay Nagar via Malwa Mill. The project was found to be economically and logistically unfeasible due to high capital costs and implementation challenges.
