GHMC is building signal-free highways to tackle traffic woes across the city, informed Mayor Gadwal Vijayalaxmi. Under the SRDP program, the civic body is undertaking developmental works to the tune of ₹8,000 crore, of which ₹2,000 crore has already been spent to complete 22 projects while another 25 projects will be covered soon. Link roads, missing roads, development of junctions are being given top priority. The Shaikpet flyover with a length of about 2.71 km from Khairatabad zone circle 18 to Serilingampalli Malkam Cheruvu with six lanes is being built at an estimated cost of ₹333.55 crore. It will ease traffic woes for over 4 lakh vehicles plying on this major traffic corridor. The flyover connects Lakdi-ka-pul to Mehdipatnam, Gachibowli via Tolichowki and will also link the Biodiversity junction and JNTU junction providing traffic-free transportation for 17 km. Owaisi flyover being built at an estimated cost of ₹63 crore, stretches across 1.36 km and promises to ease traffic flow from southern to eastern parts of the city. The flyover connects Aramghar and LB Nagar and regulates the traffic at Midhani Owaisi junction.
