JCB India Ltd, a wholly owned subsidiary of the JC Bamford Excavators Ltd, UK, has recently forayed into the diesel genset segment and rolled out diesel genset in the range of 63 to 100 KVA for the local market which is growing at a rapid pace of 8–10% per annum. It has planned to subsequently expand its range to over 100 KVA in the coming months followed by 15–200 KVA during the next year.

In fact, JCB India has successfully been exporting these diesel generators to over 30 countries across five continents from India since 2013 and will now focus on the domestic market as well, as it currently commands a capacity to manufacture 2,000 gensets every year. Last year it had manufactured 500 gensets and this year it is targeting 1,500 units catering to exports and domestic sales.

Speaking on the launching occasion Mr. Vipin Sondhi, MD & CEO, JCB India Ltd said, "We are extremely delighted to venture into a new segment. Once again, JCB raises the bar in innovation with the introduction of this whole new range of diesel generators. We are the only major company in India manufacturing and assembling our own range of Generators, both for the domestic and international market. We have been championing the theme of "Make in India" for a few years now by making global quality products in India. Our world class ranges of Generators, which are highly fuel efficient, compact and reliable, are also manufactured on the company's philosophy of One Global Quality."

Commenting on the emerging scenario in the construction equipment segment, he said that JCB India is of the view that demands for construction equipment are expected to pick up after October this year largely in view of the government's initiatives to boost the construction and infrastructure sector. As a matter of fact, the equipment industry is expecting buoyancy during the third quarter of the current fiscal when things should start moving. After presenting investors–friendly Budget, the government would invite bids and contracts in the first quarter and then it normally takes 3 to 4 months to mobilize the resources. The infrastructure sector is expected to witness a lot of activities as the government sets aside a staggering sum worth Rs.70,000 crore in the Budget for the sector in the current fiscal. In addition, the setting up of National Investment and Infrastructure Fund worth Rs.20,000 crore will also help in creating demand for the earthmoving and construction equipment. The player, which commands a turnover of Rs.5,000 crore, is looking forward for the demand of construction machinery to pick up after the government initiates the process of tendering for new contracts for infra sector covering highways, power, mining, airports and ports segments, he insisted.

Mr. Amit Gossain, Executive Vice President – Sales, Marketing and Business Development, JCB India Ltd. avers, "With significant investments in product design and innovation, we will keep delivering on our promise of bringing performance-driven and market-leading products built to the highest specifications for our customers in India. JCB diesel generators provide 5 star advantages to customers. Along with their highly efficient engine & compact size, they are easy to maintain and offer quality service through our world class JCB dealer network."
