ATG Tires: Catering to All Segments
Angelo Noronha, President, APAC & MEA, ATG Tires Pvt. Ltd. discusses the company’s strengths and capabilities as a supplier of tyres for a wide range of construction equipment.
Please tell us about ATG’s portfolio of products for the Indian market.
Alliance Tire Group (ATG) is a part of the Yokohama Rubber Company Ltd.(YRC), Japan, the 8th largest Tire and Rubber Company in the world. ATG is focused on Agriculture, Construction, Material Handling and Forestry applications with its Alliance, Galaxy and Primex brands.
Alliance TracPRO tires, both front and rear, are for tractors and combine harvesters. Galaxy is a very well-known brand for off-highway machines and offers a comprehensive product range for a wide variety of applications and machines such as skid steers, backhoe loaders, telehandlers, compact tractors, forklifts, reach stackers, rubber tire gantry (RTG), container handlers, excavators, earth moving machines such as dump trucks, graders and loaders, underground mining, paver and many others.
Under the Galaxy brand are Giraffe XLW for telehandlers, Rockmax for dump trucks, Rockmine Lug for tippers, and EXR-300 for earthmovers and graders, besides a variety of tires for material handling applications such as Portstar Plus for reach stackers and rubber tire gantry, Yardmaster Ultra and Yardmaster SDS (pneumatic and solid tires) for forklift machines.
We have recently introduced Radial OTR tires like LDSR 300 for loaders and dozers, MGSR 200 for motor graders, LHD 500 L-5 series for wheel loaders and Rockmax E-4 series for tipper and dump trucks.
New developments are being seen in tipper trucks, multi-axle trailers, tractor trailers, backhoe loaders, wheel loaders and mobile cranes such as the introduction of a more varied class of products with superior capabilities to work in rugged conditions and requiring lesser maintenance. How will ATG cater to this class of products and their application requirements?
ATG already has a wide portfolio to cater to various segments including tippers, wheel loaders, backhoe loaders and cranes. Our various patterns and their respective sizes are perfect for the Indian market. We have the fast-moving Rock Mine Lug+ as well as the standard Rock Mine Lug in our tipper segment. Our very versatile EXR-300 comes in a number of sizes and is perfect for the wheel loader market. Our widely acclaimed Giraffe XLW and G3000 patterns cater to the mobile crane market, and patterns such as Super Industrial Lug and Giraffe XLW are the backbone of our backhoe loader segment.
How does ATG work alongside OEMs for designing tires as per the emerging application requirements?
Globally, ATG is compatible with OEMs, both in the farm, industrial and construction segments. We draw on our international OEM connections for operations in India. As a philosophy, during product development, there is constant discussion with the OEM from conceptual phase, and the specifications are considered, and the pattern is tailor made.
Does ATG have separate service packages for big fleet owners and EPC construction companies?
We have a decent number of OTR distributors to cater to our clients’ requirements pan-India. To further support market requirements, we have a well-equipped sales and service team in all regions to sort out any technical or warranty issues. The key behind their expertise is timely training sessions that we give on maintenance and usage of tyres to ensure that our customers get value for money for their products and build a long-lasting business relationship with us.
What is your demand projection for on and off highway tires in the construction sector of India?
We are very positive about the current growth momentum in the off-highway tires segment and are estimating that it will continue in the future as well.
Given the rising demand, what are ATG’s plans to ramp up production and its R&D capabilities?
Since the last decade, ATG has been constantly investing in building up its production capabilities, research & development and sales & distribution infrastructure. We have significantly ramped up the production capacities in our Dahej and Tirunelveli plants and we have invested in building up R&D centers in India and Israel.
