Mr. Kamal Bali
Kamal Bali, an engineering graduate from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) has had a fascinating journey with some of India’s top corporate as well as multinational corporations, largely in the automotive (tractors), construction & heavy equipment (C&HE) industries. Over the years, he handled several leading portfolios in different businesses like Business Strategy, Business Turnaround, Strategic Marketing, Finance, Human Resources, Strategic Sourcing, and General Management.

Prior to joining LeeBoy India, he spearheaded the transformation of Escorts Construction Equipment Limited, and cherishes the impactful stints with the group first as the head of Agri business (Tractor) sales and later as CEO & Board member of the Construction Equipment business. With a great deal of satisfaction, he also played the transformational role at Same Deutz-Fahr Group Italia’s Indian subsidiary and as its CEO & Managing Director, he was responsible for re-building the Indian subsidiary of the $2.0 bn Engine & Agri-equipment giant.

He has contributed in increasing Escorts’ market share in the tractor business in 2001-02, re-establishing the Construction Equipment business for the group and now the unique value proposition that LeeBoy has built for the Indian market in the CE space. He believes that behind achievements, there has been an equal share of road blocks. However, the chief attributes that he demonstrated through thick and thin are the passion to excel, persevering relentlessly on the identified critical success factors with uncompromising values and ethos.

As the CEO and President at Leeboy, Mr. Bali has successfully spearheaded corporations, building and driving India strategy, together with complete P&L responsibilities. He has taken on the exciting and challenging task of leading a Greenfield venture set up by the Singapore Technologies Group (STE), with a unique, customer centric value proposition in the highly competitive and growing Construction Equipment (CE) industry in India.

He actively encourages bright youngsters to join the infrastructure industry as is also apparent from the number of interns completing their projects at LeeBoy India. In fact, his son is a pilot in the aviation industry with stints across India, Sri Lanka and Indonesia.

For successful professional life, he thinks that in an age where the market is flooded with ‘me-too’ products and service offerings, it is critical for an organization to differentiate itself …. To deliver value to the customer and to achieve breakthrough growth! So he opines that for a triumphant life, one should follow five key imperatives that are: to keep in touch with the customer directly to gather first-hand insights; have ability to decipher the critical success factors from amongst a huge medley of issues; should have a vibrant team of enterprising people, who share and walk the compelling vision of the corporation; build collaborative networks of key stakeholders in the business eco-system to maintain smooth business running cycles and lastly, should have an unrelenting focus on excellence in execution. The last mile is that all-critical area which needs to be seen to completion to its finest details if we want to convert our boardroom strategies into successful on-ground realities.

On being asked about his mission ahead, he said, for him the aspiration in life is now to see the brand LEEBOY and its value proposition create an unprecedented impact in the industry, forcing others to follow suit.

Besides having high levels of professionalism and decorum, Kamal is an avid sports enthusiast and on most weekends, he is one of the earliest to tee off at one of the golf courses in Bangalore. Apart from Golf, he loves Badminton which he has been playing for the past four decades. He loves to read management case studies too.
