HAML to build 29.3km elevated & 1.7km underground tracks for Airport Metro
The Hyderabad Airport Metro Ltd (HAML), responsible for implementing the 31-km long Airport Metro corridor, has decided to construct 29.3 km of elevated track and 1.7 km underground, specifically between Raidurg metro station and the Airport terminal station. The plan also accounts for four additional metro stations to accommodate future requirements. Presently, the corridor is designed to have nine stations, with one located underground adjacent to the airport terminal.
With the rapid development of commercial and residential skyscrapers along the airport metro line, the state administration aims to facilitate cost-effective housing on the outskirts while providing convenient reverse commutes to workplaces in the city via the Airport Metro line. N.V.S. Reddy, Managing Director of HAML, highlighted that the semi-high-speed corridor is being constructed as part of Phase-II of the Hyderabad Metro project. Starting from Raidurg Metro Station, the metro line will intersect Hyderabad's Outer Ring Road (ORR) at Nanakramguda junction and continue along the ORR until reaching Shamshabad international airport.
In December of the previous year, the foundation stone for the Hyderabad Airport Metro Project was laid by the state Chief Minister. The estimated cost of the project is Rs 6,250 crore, and it is fully financed by the state government.
