Redevelopment of Varkala Sivagiri Railway Station Underway
The redevelopment of the Varkala Sivagiri railway station has commenced as part of the Amrit Bharat Station scheme. Various agencies, appointed to assist in construction activities by the joint venture of Kerala Rail Development Corporation Ltd. (KRDCL) and Rail Vikas Nigam Limited (RVNL), have initiated the works.
The station's redevelopment is estimated to cost ₹123.36 crore in engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) mode, with a construction period of 30 months. Additionally, the same agencies have secured the contract for the redevelopment of Thiruvananthapuram Central Railway Station at an estimated cost of ₹439 crore in EPC mode, with an expected completion period of 42 months.
