CREDAI MAHA & Disha Foundation Sign MoU to Support Construction Workers
CREDAI Maharashtra, representing organized Real Estate Developers/Builders, and Disha Foundation, a notable non-profit organization, have inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to bolster social protection for construction workers across Maharashtra.
The MOU aims to empower construction workers by facilitating access to the Building and Other Construction Worker Welfare (BOCW) scheme, along with other essential social security schemes, financial literacy, legal aid, and skill enhancement opportunities.
Under this collaboration, Disha Foundation will work closely with CREDAI Maharashtra and its city chapters to implement various initiatives. These include resource mobilization, training teams, developing awareness materials, enrolling eligible workers in welfare schemes, managing data, and documenting impact. CREDAI Maharashtra and its city chapters will provide full support to ensure smooth implementation, including facilitating worker registrations and coordinating with the labor department.
The project's initial phase targets benefiting at least 30,000 low-income unskilled and semi-skilled construction workers across 66 city chapters of CREDAI in Maharashtra, starting in nine cities.
This partnership reflects a joint commitment to uplift the lives of construction workers and promote social justice within the industry. By improving access to welfare schemes and essential services, CREDAI Maharashtra and Disha Foundation aim to foster inclusivity and support for workers in Maharashtra's construction sector.
Pramod Khairnar Patil, President of CREDAI Maharashtra, highlighted the collaboration's significance in providing comprehensive social security to construction workers, benefiting over 30,000 workers directly this year.
Dr. Anjali Brothers, Founder and President of Disha Foundation, emphasized the importance of the collaboration in ensuring the social protection and well-being of construction workers in Maharashtra.
Vidyanand Bedekar, Secretary of CREDAI Maharashtra, hailed the collaboration as a new chapter of social responsibility within the construction industry, expressing pride in its direct impact on workers' lives.
