We believe in providing consistent quality products on agreed specifications and delivery on time. For us, offering value for money to our customers is an important factor. Due to our continuous effort to be closer to the customers, we have managed to keep our business volume intact in India and also doing good in overseas markets, even during this slowdown phase," says Chairman and Managing Director, CAPIOUS, Mr. Kiran Pandya, in a recent interaction with Maria R.

What is your market overview for construction equipment in general and notably road & Building construction equipment and machineries in the country? How do you see the impact of present slowdown in these markets?
Road and civil construction industry has always been rapidly going one in India as it is synonym for development of the country so as road and civil construction machineries and equipment industry. This industry always attracts good opportunities in terms of catering the demand of the industry. Though, recent global economic slowdown has adversely affected the equipment industry but it's a short-term phase, on mid and long-term, I am confident that the industry will grow at 18-20% annually.

What are the challenges construction equipment industry facing and what immediate and sustainable approach is required to create enabling business environment?
Global economic slowdown has created adverse situation for the construction equipment industry. There is low demand in the market for the last two quarters and it has to be dealt prudently. The government has to bring reforms to fast tract the infrastructure projects. Land acquisition, environmental clearances, and higher interest rates are the main cause of deterring infra growth, which needs to be given top priority. Highway ministry's recent step to award 4000 km roads on EPC is a welcome move and will certainly boost the sentiments of the industry.

As CAPIOUS has big export markets; how has the company been performing on business front for the last 2-3 years bracing with global strong economic headwinds to sustain its competitive edge in the domestic and overseas markets?
There is not much slowdown in the countries like Middle-East and Africa where we are exporting our products. Secondly, this slowdown phase in India and in our other markets has given us time to fine-tune our business strategies and products placement and making our products energy efficient. Due to our continuous effort to be closer to the customers, we have managed to keep our business volume unaffected in India and also doing good in overseas markets.

CAPIOUS sizeable business comes from exports; how is the company's export business developing and which is its biggest export destinations?
Enquiries are the best parameter to determine the market situation and nowadays flow of enquiries has shrunk, but we are trying to go deeper in to Middle-East, African and Latin American markets and are also planning to hit CIS countries in near future to keep our export market growth intact.

Would you please describe the CAPIOUS's dynamic growth from its humble beginning to present stature as a strong player in designing and manufacturing Road & Building Construction Equipment, Machineries & plants to our readers? What are company's important business areas?
CAPIOUS has realised his way back in 1996 and we are 16 years old company. CAPIOUS has always known to offer products of international standard to our domestic and international customers. We believe in providing consistent quality products on agreed specification and delivery on time. For us, offering value for money to our customers is an important factor.

Asphalt Batch Mix Plant

Our products range includes: Asphalt Plant (Drum mix/Batch mix),Wet mix Macadam Plant, Bitumen sprayer, Asphalt Paver Finisher, concrete bathing and mixing plant, Chip spreader, Road Broomer, Kerb Paver etc.

India is a very price-sensitive market; do you have any idea to mitigate this sensitivity keeping products affordability and reliability intact?
I think every good product has its own price. We at CAPIOUS have practice of not compromising with quality to make the products cheap. We are in the industry of equipment which is highly capitalised in nature and every customer has thinking of buying it for long-term perspective. So buying cheaper product sometimes attracts more maintenance and post purchase expenses like less production than rated capacity, production loss, high fuel consumption etc. These things make the product more expensive which initially look cheaper. We provide consistent quality products on agreed specifications and always strive to make affordable and good quality products contrast to cheaper ones.

A word about company's inherent strength in engineering design, development of a sound distribution network and customized services solutions as per the felt needs of your clients.
Each machine atCAPIOUSis subjected to multiple quality checks during design and development, involving people from every department, to produce high quality machines that must deliver satisfactory performance.

Almost all parts are manufactured at the CAPIOUS works, enabling the company to provide its clients higher quality and after-sales-service.

What are the customers support service and products training being provided by the company to its dealers/distributors abroad?
We have never been known to compromise with the quality of our services. Our products are well backed up by after sales support and quick service in any corner of the world. The team of qualified engineers takes care of our valued customers/dealers and timely response. Thereby reducing downtime to minimal and achieving highest production efficiency.

Do you have any plan in terms of introduction of new product or reach?
Yes, we have recently forayed into manufacturing of asphalt batching plant which is widely accepted in the Indian and international market.
