Ramesh Chandra, Founder, Unitech Group

Mr. Ramesh Chandra, one of the founders of Unitech Group, was born in 1941 in Farrukhabad, Uttar Pradesh. After completing his early school education from his hometown, he went on to join IIT Kharagpur for his higher studies. Graduating in civil engineering from IIT Kharagpur, he worked for a short span of time with the Bridge and Roof Company in Kolkata before completing his masters in Structural Engineering from the University of South Hampton, England (UK).

After completing his studies, he returned to India and started his business as a consultancy firm for a soil and foundation engineering under the name 'United Technical Consultant Private Ltd,’ with the help of four other friends. Later his interest moved into the business of real estate and civil engineering construction and he started doing projects both small and big under the banner Unitech Group.

Established in 1971, Unitech Limited is today not only the leading Real Estate player but also is involved in the construction of roads, powerhouses, highways, transmission lines, and other many projects. The company has always been responsible towards protecting and preserving the environment and is committed to conserve the environment through its products, technology and processes. It has taken a lead in constructing energy efficient buildings that are truly sustainable in form, function and use.

Being a philanthropist, Mr. Chandra who is married to Dr. Pushpa Chandra and has two children-Ajay Chandra and Sanjay Chandra, is involved in CSR activities under the name Saankalp which focuses mainly on core development issues like healthcare, labour welfare, child education and skill building.
