A Successful Partnership
Spanish company Hormipresa counts on beam moulds from Italy-based Tecnocom - a Progress Group company.
Hormipresa is a leading company in the field of industrial prefabrication of precast concrete elements for the industrial and residential construction sectors. The company based in Tarragona was founded in 1972 and provides its customers in Spain and France with a wide range of high-quality products. In the course of time, the company has primarily specialized in the production of beams, columns and wall elements. The prefabricated buildings, moreover, have been granted many quality certifications. With its subsidiaries in various regions of Spain, the company has a total workforce of more than 150 technically specialized people.
Hormipresa recently (once again) decided on working together with Tecnocom, its partner of many years, in expanding the production facility in Tarragona. Tecnocom, a Progress Group company, specializes in systems for prefabrication in the precast concrete element industry and has more than 40 years’ experience in designing and manufacturing moulds.
The Hormipresa production site in Catalonia is set up primarily for manufacturing elements for large prefabricated industrial buildings. The company was aiming to invest in a highly flexible, automated system, with which beams of varying sizes could be manufactured. In this specific case, it involved a mould of impressive size with individually adjustable sections along a total length of 63 meters. This special mould provides an ideal solution to satisfy the demanding requirements of a leading company like Hormipresa. It will permit the company to continue producing precast concrete elements for numerous industrial and residential buildings in the best possible way in the future as well.
“Many of our plants were developed by Tecnocom,” states Ramon Mullerat, purchasing manager of Hormipresa. “Tecnocom with all its experience and its know-how represents for us our vision of an industrial reality.” The essential motivation for the investment decision was the need to maintain the competitiveness in a market, increasingly demanding faster production times. “We have limited production areas, however, we have to manufacture large quantities of products in various sizes to remain competitive in the market. The competitors often make use of several production sites and a larger number of machines,” Mullerat points out.
The Tecnocom technology is a suitable solution: a flexible mould system that allows production of beams in different sections as quickly as possible, thus optimizing the production time.
Hormipresa products offer very great load-bearing capacities coupled with impressive span widths. The company is satisfied with the current market situation and is ready to face future challenges. Says Mullerat, “Based on current orders, we are working at 75% of our potential in this year; but the signs are good so we can reach 100% soon. An important building block in this process is the positive cooperation with our reliable partner, Tecnocom, which is supporting Hormipresa with its experience in constructing individually customized machines to create the most efficient production processes possible.” The high number of incoming orders and ongoing customer satisfaction underscore the good sense behind this investment and are the basis for a continued successful partnership.
