The Uttar Pradesh state government has announced plans to construct a 67.5-kilometer Ring Road passing through Ayodhya, as well as the adjoining districts of Gonda and Basti. The road is intended to alleviate traffic pressure in Ayodhya and facilitate commuting in the region. The project will be executed by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) at a cost of ₹690 crore and will require 392 hectares of land. The Ring Road will begin at Maheshpur in Gonda, pass through Bishnupur and Magalsi villages in Ayodhya, and finally reach Sitarampur village in Basti. The entire route will pass through 47 villages in the three districts. The project will include 11 large and 12 small bridges, 22 underpasses, and four railway overbridges. Construction is expected to begin shortly. The Ring Road will be especially significant as it will accommodate the expected increase in devotees traveling to Ayodhya once the Ram Temple is opened by the end of this year. Additionally, new townships will be developed along the Ring Road. The mayor of Ayodhya, Rishikesh Upadhyay, has stated that the project will provide convenience to road users and commuters alike in the region.
