The Zirakpur-Panchkula Bypass Road project, aimed at decongesting Zirakpur, on the outskirts of Chandigarh, by providing an alternative route to the traffic moving between Ambala and Shimla, has finally gained pace with NHAI initiating the groundwork and started land acquisition process. The ring road, a six-lane stretch, will originate from McDonald’s on the Ambala-Zirakpur Highway, pass through Peer Muchalla, Sanoli, Gazipur, Nagla (all Mohali villages), before traversing along Sector 25, Panchkula, and culminating at the T-junction on Panchkula-Kalka highway near Sector 4.
The 17-km long ₹800 crore project, is expected to be completed by March 2023. The land acquisition process will be completed by October this year, following which the road is expected to be readied by the middle of next year.
