UP approves Rs 1,600 cr RRTS corridor
The Uttar Pradesh state government has granted approval for a 72-km long Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) corridor connecting Ghaziabad's 17-km priority section to the upcoming Jewar International Airport in Greater Noida. The ambitious project, with an investment of Rs. 1,600 crore, aims to link Noida airport with key National Capital Region (NCR) towns including Greater Noida, Ghaziabad, Meerut, and Delhi. Chaired by Chief Secretary DS Mishra, the meeting of empowered officials sanctioned the project's phased development, with the National Capital Region Transport Corporation tasked with preparing a detailed project report. Funding for the project will be shared among the Centre, state government, and rail authorities, with 20% from the Centre, 50% from the UP government, and the remaining 30% from rail authorities. The elevated rapid rail corridor, operating at 160 kmph, will traverse through strategic locations, providing efficient connectivity to the IGI airport in Delhi while enhancing transport facilities in Ghaziabad, Greater Noida, and surrounding areas with 16 stations.
