
Out of the total number of projects being implemented in the state, 43, worth ₹2,121 crore, are partially funded by the MoPSW. Currently, 17 projects worth ₹666 crore are under implementation, and 11 projects, costing ₹443 crore, are in the development stage. The remaining projects have already been completed.
The Sagarmala initiative has been successful in enabling Indian ports to handle large volumes of goods by improving efficiency and reducing the turnaround time of containers. The projects under the Sagarmala programme cover a broad range of categories, including port modernization, rail and road connectivity, cruise tourism, fisheries, coastal infrastructure, and skill development.
To celebrate the maritime activities of the coastal states, the ministry has decided to construct a Coastal States Pavilion. A land parcel measuring 14,000 sq. ft. has been identified in Maharashtra for this purpose, along with an additional construction area of 6,000-8,000 sq. ft. in the periphery of the coastal states.
