In June 2022, JSW Infrastructure successfully launched its inaugural container terminal at the New Mangalore Port Trust, with an initial cargo capacity of 240,000 twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs). Now, the company aims to augment this capacity to 400,000 TEUs through a series of modernization initiatives to be carried out by its subsidiary, JSW Mangalore Container Terminal Private Limited (MTPL).
The container terminal boasts a spacious backup area spanning 65,000 square meters, which serves as storage for containers. The terminal is equipped with six reach stackers, an empty container handler, and two mobile harbor cranes, facilitating efficient handling of cargo.
This expansion project underscores JSW Infrastructure's commitment to bolstering container operations at the New Mangalore Port Trust. By enhancing the port's capacity, the company aims to cater to growing demands and contribute to the region's economic development.
