
The project includes major infrastructure and operational upgrades on the airside, landside and building infrastructure to meet the future growth of traffic to the Maldives in general, and the northern region of Maldives in particular. They have planned the construction of a new 2.46-km long runway and a terminal with a capacity of 1.3 million passengers per annum. Facilities will also be set up to further expand international flights. The project is truly transformative in nature not only for the northern areas but also for the country as a whole and a gateway to the north.
The redeveloped Hanimaadhoo International Airport will unlock the true potential of the country’s vibrant tourism industry and will reinvigorate economic activity and speed up the development of various sectors apart from tourism and allied sectors.
