Inland Waterways Development Council Announces ₹45,000 cr Investment

The comprehensive roadmap outlined by the IWDC identifies 30+ potential routes for various cruise types, emphasizing long and short, recreational, and heritage segments. The plan encompasses route development, marketing strategy, infrastructure development, and navigation improvements. The government's broader vision includes developing 26 more waterways suitable for River Cruise tourism, increasing the number of cruise circuits with night stays from 17 to 80, and expanding river cruise terminals from 15 to 185. The objective is to boost cruise tourism traffic significantly, aiming to increase local cruise tourism on National Waterways from two lakh to 15 lakh by 2047.
