Govt plans six airports in Jharkhand & Telangana

The Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia informed that the Union government has planned to build three more airports in Jharkhand including Bokaro, Jamshedpur and Dumka thereby taking the total number of airports in the state to five.

Similarly in Telangana, they will build three new airports in Telangana. The union minister of tourism and culture G Kishan Reddy has directed the state government to fast track the land acquisition for the upcoming projects. Currently, Telangana has only one functional airport – Rajiv Gandhi International Airport at Shamshabad on the outskirts of Hyderabad. Though there is an airport at Begumpet in Hyderabad, it is not being used for civilian air passengers and is meant only for VIP aircrafts.
