The civil aviation ministry has announced airport projects worth ₹2,361 crore in Jammu and Kashmir.
A civil enclave airport will be built in Jammu at ₹861 crore investment and the terminal building at Srinagar Airport will be expanded at an investment of ₹1,500 crores.
The ministry also plans to expand helicopter services in J&K. Work has already been started for implementing ‘Heli Policy’ and use of helicopters in emergency medical services. Various scenic destinations in Jammu and Kashmir witness year-round tourist influx, which has the potential to boost Heli-tourism market in the Union Territory.
