According to an official spokesperson, the port project has successfully completed crucial stages such as land acquisition, tender processes, securing permissions, and resolving legal disputes. With the foundation stone laid, construction work has commenced promptly.
The Machilipatnam port is poised to be a game-changer for the region's overall development and holds immense potential for job creation among the local population. It is expected to facilitate the handling of various commodities, including fertilizers, coal, cooking oil, containers, agricultural products, cement, cement clinker, granite, and iron ore. The port will cater to the districts of Guntur, Krishna, NTR, East and West Godavari in Andhra Pradesh, as well as Khammam, Karimnagar, Adilabad, Nalgonda, and Warangal districts in Telangana.
