logistics park
Andhra Pradesh Government has planned to set up two multimodal logistics parks on an area of 100 acres near Krishnapatnam and Kakinada ports. State Industries and IT minister Mekapati Goutham Reddy informed that the state is contemplating to build these parks on PPP model on a land parcel earmarked by the Andhra Pradesh Industrial Infrastructure Corporation (APIIC). The state government is currently in the process of framing and reviewing the special logistics policy on the lines of countries like Singapore. As part of creating an authority at the Central level, the minister informed that orders have already been given to make the chief secretary the chairman for SLCC. He noted that for logistics to thrive, freight carriers are crucial for minor and major ports, cold storage and warehouses. Similarly, the department is also considering building truck parking bays on five acres of land parcels near state highways and national highways. These parking bays are expected to be equipped with refuelling stations, parking slots, dhabas (F&B outlets) and drivers resting rooms.
