PMC Begins Construction of New Bridge Across Mula-Mutha River
PMC has initiated civil work on a 10-metre-wide bridge parallel to the existing Aga Khan bridge, connecting Kooregaon Park (North Main Road) with Kalyaninagar. The new bridge aims to alleviate traffic congestion in the area, based on a traffic survey conducted by PMC.
While the existing bridge has four lanes, the new one will feature at least two lanes. Construction began recently and is projected to finish within 18 to 24 months.
No additional land is required for the project. PMC has previously constructed parallel bridges, such as Dengle bridge and old Aundh bridge, to improve traffic flow. Additionally, PMC plans to widen a section of North Main Road near the existing bridge and Bhairoba Nala pumping to ease traffic bottlenecks during peak hours.
