NHAI Establishes Corridor Management Units for National Highways
The decision comes as NHAI has substantially completed the construction and widening of most of its stretches. With a growing emphasis on managing and maintaining existing road assets, the establishment of CMUs signifies a shift in NHAI's priorities.
According to a recent circular, CMUs will play a pivotal role in ensuring smooth traffic flow, eliminating encroachments, conducting regular inspections, and maintaining roadside amenities and plantations. Additionally, these units will oversee the installation of signboards and road furniture, monitor traffic volume at toll plazas, and assess ground conditions on a regular basis.
