Sam India Builtwell emerges as L1 bidder for Metro 6 depot in Mumbai
Despite a 7.5% increase compared to MMRDA's estimated cost, the bids are under scrutiny and a decision to issue the Letter of Intent is expected soon. Construction at the depot site is slated to begin between May and June 2024, with an estimated completion duration of 30 months.
Spanning 15.02 hectares, the depot will be a crucial hub for Line 6 operations, accommodating one train set initially and provisions for future expansion to accommodate up to 13 rakes by 2031. The depot's infrastructure will include various facilities such as workshops, inspection bays, stabling lines, and an Operations and Control Centre (OCC). Line 6, covering a distance of 16 km, will connect Vikhroli to Lokhandwala via the Jogeshwari-Vikhroli Link Road, intersecting above the railway tracks on Central Railway and Western Railway.
