₹30,274-cr Rapid Rail Project to connect Noida to Delhi & Meerut

The Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut rapid rail corridor project, which involves an investment of ₹30,274 crores, will provide direct access to the residents of Noida and Greater Noida through the Sahibabad, Ghaziabad, and Guldar stations. The trains will have a design speed of 180 km/ph, and commuters will have access to 17 routes serviced by 114 buses that will pass through Gaur Chowk, Sectors 62 and 62, 51 and 52. The buses will be of Euro 6 classification, run on CNG and have a capacity of 20 passengers each. Applications will initially be accepted for three routes, which will involve traveling on both public and private roads.

The goal of this move is to ensure seamless and speedy exit from the rapid rail stations. The RRTS is expected to reduce the current three to four-hour road travel time between Delhi and Meerut to around 55 minutes. The project is estimated to serve roughly 800,000 passengers per day and is planned to begin operations for commuters by March 2025. The 17 km priority stretch in Ghaziabad is planned to begin operations by March 2023, having five stations at Sahibabad, Ghaziabad City, Guldhar, Duhai and Duhai Depot.
