Railway hastens Baramulla-Uri rail line project in Kashmir
The Northern Railway has hastened work on laying 50-km Baramulla-Uri railway stretch in the Kashmir valley for which tenders have already been floated. Once the project is completed, the border area of Uri will get connected with the railways. Chief Area Manager (CAM) Kashmir Railways, Saqib Yousuf informed that it is currently carrying out final location survey for the new project using using modern survey techniques such as Aerial Survey and DGPS (Differential Global Positioning System) levelling and creation of DEM. He added that the entire state of Kashmir will be connected with Kanyakumari through rail link very shortly as the long pending demand for the Ratnipora Halt between Awantipora and Kakpora in Kashmir has now finally been fulfilled.
