Railway clears Rs. 800 cr for infra upgrade in Vizag
The Railway Board has recently cleared a staggering sum worth Rs. 800 crore for building and upgrading three rail lines between Visakhapatnam and Gopalapatnam as part of expansion of infrastructure, Divisional Railway Manager Anup Satpathy said. He also added that the board in its recently held meet has cleared Rs.159.47 crore for the fourth and fifth line and prior to this, it also sanctioned Rs 640 crore to complete the three important and long pending rail infrastructure projects for the Visakhapatnam complex of Waltair Division.
The expansion of rail lines will help in de-bottlenecking of train operations as the clearance of funding would enhance the throughput of the trains running through Waltair Division and Visakhapatnam in particular, reduce detention, cut down running time, increase speed and help seamless movement of passengers and goods trains. All these projects would greatly solve the most important issues of congestion in the Visakhapatnam area, he added.
