Mumbai Suburban Railway Network to receive ₹33,690-cr boost in infra projects
Projects worth ₹33,690 crore have been approved for the expansion of Mumbai's suburban railway network, which is often referred to as the lifeline of the country's financial capital and its adjoining metropolitan region. Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, Deputy CM Devendra Fadnavis, and officials of the Mumbai Railway Development Corporation were present when the projects were approved. The projects include laying 5th and 6th lines between Borivali and Virar on Western Railway, as well as the 3rd and 4th lines between Kalyan and Badlapur (15 km) on Central Railway. The current Harbour line will also be extended from Goregaon to Borivali, covering a distance of seven km, and all these projects will enable the railways to operate more suburban and long-distance trains.
