MMRDA gets 15 ha land to build Depot on Metro Line 6
Mumbai's suburban collector has ordered the transfer of 15 hectares of land in Kanjurmarg to the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) for the construction of Metro Line 6 depot. The MMRDA is set to issue a tender for the depot's construction shortly. The depot will include a workshop for major overhauls and repairs, an automatic washing plant, and an operations and control center. The Metro Line 6 will connect Vikhroli and Lokhandwala, crossing over the railway tracks on Central and Western Railway. The land, previously proposed for an integrated depot for Metro 6 and Metro 3 in 2020, will be handed over to the MMRDA in a couple of days after completion of formalities. Preparatory work, such as soil testing, fencing, and shifting of utilities, will be undertaken during the monsoon season.
